On December 23rd 2009, at the head office of the Ministry of Information & Communications (MIC), 18 Nguyen Du Street, Ha Noi, FPT Software handed over the final package which includes the software system FMS and the set of installation to Information Technology (IT) department of the MIC. The hand-over ceremony is to continue the implementation of the cooperation agreement on handing over the material package of experiences on building, applying, and assessing CMMI level 5 between the MIC and FPT Software Joint Stock Company to Vietnam’s IT Community.
The software system FMS (FSOFT Management Suite) of FPT Software is built for meeting the requirement of quality management according to CMMi standard, in accordance with the material package QMS (Quality Management System) which were handed over in the first package on October 20th 2009.
The system includes 5 software items:
1. FSOFT Insight: supports management of Plans, schedules, Issues, Risks, Resource of project.
2. DMS (Defect Management System): supports to manage defects of projects, and make reports for analysis and defect evaluation of projects.
3. Timesheet: used for recording practical effort spent ò each project, helpful for collecting reports on Fsoft Insight.
4. NCMS (Non-Conformity Management System): supports management of inappropriate issues with management system
5. Dashboard: for senior managers to review the status of projects, and manage human resources, etc.
The software system FMS was packaged in the form of open-source software, encouraging the participation of improvement accordantly with the purpose of use of each enterprise.
At the hand-over ceremony, FPT Software made a presentation of directions for use of all materials handed over in the program, including the material system QMS, the software system and the set of installation, as well as answered enterprises’ questions about how to use.
The overall hand-over ceremony closed the hand-over program which includes handing over material package, and software system & the set of installation. FPT Software will continue consultative activities according to demand for enterprises during the time of using the material package and software.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Duong, Acting Head of Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Information & Communications said: “The popularization of the material package of directions for CMMI application is one part of the MIC’s project on supporting enterprises to apply CMMI. The project has been approved to be reported feasible by the MIC’s leaders, and will be implemented next year. It is expected that the MIC will support about 60 – 100 software enterprises to build process and evaluation according to CMMI standard in 3 years of 2010-2012.

CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration for short) is a process improvement maturity model for development of products and services. CMMI models are collections of best practices relating to the development and maintenance activities of products or services throughout the process from the first requirement to handing over, maintenance, and warranty.
CMMI provides software companies with the basis for continuous improvement of management quality, product development and delivery. It is separated into 5 levels equivalently to 5 maturity levels of capacity in software production.
